COMPANY REVIEW

RepairManual.com

Anybody who has worked on their own ATV knows the need for having on hand a service manual to illustrate disassembly procedures. Working "on the cheap" without a manual will get you in trouble. You have two choices. if you live close enough to just pop down to the dealer whenever you have a question (the mechanics just love that), or break down and order a manual. Your Dealer may actually have the manual you need in stock, however more than likely this is not the case. So for the rest of us, we rely on the Internet. While there are many places that offer service manuals online, one of the best is Repairmanual.com. Their vast stock includes manuals for seemingly everything with wheels or a track. They catalog Clymer (now Primedia), Haynes and OEM manuals. Prices appear to be in line with the local dealer or bookstore, and if you can believe the dozens of testimonials, Repairmanual.com apparently has in stock the manuals your dealer or bookstore has had on backorder for the last three weeks! The owner of the company has stated they ship 50-60 manuals everyday, all over the world. The testimonials also claim extremely fast delivery, with more than one person from Japan receiving their order in just 5 days, and Britain in 4 days. From within the U.S., two days seems to be the norm.

OK, we have endless inventory and fast delivery, but what about the order process? They can accept phone orders but they state the order process is faster if you order online. With orders placed early in the day, they are processed and shipped that same day.

We tested their ordering and shipping process by ordering a manual online late one Friday night. The programming code for the order process is smooth and even when we deliberately tried to mess up the process by not filling in the forms correctly, a message appeared, indicating the problem and allowing you to go back and fix it. And you didn't even have to start over! We liked their ordering code a lot, however the entering of the credit card information requires you to tab to the next box every four digits, instead of automatically advancing. A minor detail, but when you place a large number of orders online like we do, we enter the card number at high speed from memory, using the numeric keypad, only to find the first four digits were all that was recorded.

One word on the manuals, if you are an accomplished mechanic, then the factory manual may be more to your liking. Every other mortal should consider the Clymer or the Haynes service manuals. They contain the same info as the OEM, but the procedures are explained in greater detail and with more pictures and drawings, especially the Clymer manuals.

Repairmanual.com also carries a selection of brake pads, oil filters and other selected items for shop use. Besides just the service manuals, they also carry maintenance software to keep track of your vehicles service history, the Clymer Powersports Blue Book, a Flat Rate Labor Guide, and the ATV/Motorcycle Data Book for 2003 which covers all repair information for machines produced from 1979 - 2003, as well as the Haynes Fuel System Tech Book, Workshop Practice Book and Electrical Manual. You can even purchase OEM parts on-line through one of their links, World of Power Sports.

As promised, three shipping days later the manual arrived and was what we expected. We would definitely recommend this company for your repair manual and service supply needs.
